Choosing the business model

A hot topic in this area of business creating change is how to choose the correct business model. While on the outset it might seem that this applies primarily to social entrepreneurs, it also applies to large corporations. The former are wading through tricky issues such as what model will provide the greatest benefit from a capital sourcing perspective, while the latter are considering whether they want to extend existing business models in ways that create social benefit. Often we assume this decision is hardest for the budding entrepreneur, yet the large corporation that is answering to shareholders faces trade-offs that are just as stark. The writers of this blog would love to see corporations move from a "social responsibility" stance to a "social opportunity" position -- getting creative to use existing or new business models in ways that creates benefit for them, their shareholders, and the broader social community.

See the link on the sidebar for articles and thought on the business model decision.
